Community CROPS Presentations

Community CROPS has a variety of speaking programs available for groups. Suggested costs are listed below for each type of presentation, based on the preparation time needed. Learn About Community CROPS ($50 suggested)

We offer informative presentations about the many different ways CROPS is helping families in Lincoln to grow healthy food. These presentations are great for social organization interested in helping their membership understand more about the local food movement and the role of Community CROPS in increasing food security for low income families as well as the CROPS programming for refugees and new immigrants. Presentations are approximately 20 minutes long and includes showing many photos of CROPS projects and participants. It can be adapted to fit any group situation.

Three presentations are available on these topics:

  • Community gardens in Lincoln--what is happening and how.
  • Engaging young people in gardening--what works.
  • Growing Farmers in Lincoln--all about our new farmers.

Learn about a specific topic of expertise ($100 honorarium)

Interested in a presentation on organic integrated pest management or building a chicken coop for urban chicken farming? CROPS' expert staff is available to teach a class for your group on a variety of local food topics. We can adapt our presentation to your group needs and time requirements. Classes can be held at our gardens, our farm, or your location.

Suggested topics:

  • Starting a garden at home, in containers or at a community garden
  • Local food sources and resources
  • Converting your lawn into a garden
  • Introduction to starting a community garden

How to start a program ($2,000 honorarium)

Community CROPS staff can work with your group to help you start programs similar to what we do. This is an in-depth training, customizable to your group's needs. This includes topics such as:

  • Diverse Horticulture Farms
  • Starting A Community Garden Program in Your Community
  • Starting a Small Farm Business Incubator
